Happy fall ya'll!!!

Brothers and Sisters, it is yet another Monday. Time is going by faster then I'd like. Its crazy to think that in a few weeks, I'll hit my 10th month mark. However, I am so excited that it is General Conference weekend! I cannot wait to hear the words of the living Prophet and his Apostles! General Conference truly is a blessing that Heavenly Father has given us. Last week, I was wondering how I could best prepare for General Conference. I knelt down and I asked Heavenly Father about a question I could ask in preparation for General Conference. As I was praying a question came to my mind, "How can I better understand the power of the Book of Mormon?" I am so grateful that Heavenly Father gave me this question. To answer this question I made a goal to read as much of the Book of Mormon as I can before General Conference. Note that I did not make it a goal to finish the Book of Mormon. I know that this experience was inspired by Heavenly Father and I know that if you earnestly seek for a way to prepare for General Conference, Heavenly Father will help you.

Last week was amazing, we had 1 come to sacrament meeting, 3 on date for baptism and we found 5 new investigators. We have been working really hard to accomplish our goals and I know that it was Heavenly Fathers will for us to exceed them. I will tell you about the new investigators we found;

Louis is a sweet old lady, her husband has cancer so she is going kind of down hill right now. She has such a strong belief in Jesus Christ and she knows that he will help her with anything and everything.

Sister Bridges is a younger mom with two little kids. She was a referral from a member in our ward and she is Christian.

Edward Joseph Smith Jr. He is cool. We found him while we where street contacting and he is a super happy go lucky kind of person. He came across as a little creepy though because he was so happy (lol) so we are just going to bring members with us every time. He likes that he has the same name as the Prophet Joseph Smith.

Limont (I don't know how to spell his name) He is Edwards friend that showed up later in the lesson. He said that he wanted to learn more and that he likes the idea of the Book of Mormon.

Kimberly is a young mom as well. She talked a lot about families so we taught her the Plan of Salvation. She said that she wants to go to church so how cool is that?

This week was Sister Adams' 20th Birthday!!! She is my best good friend. I couldn't afford to by her a birthday present so I made her eggs in the shape of a 2 but it was a struggle because there where not enough eggs to make a 0 so I guess that she is just 2 lol.

A recent convert asked me if I play video games and I was like, "Heck yes." So we talked about video games and she was like, "Do you miss playing video games?" I said, "No because I like being a missionary better." She was like, "That's good because you are good at it." She has my whole heart.

Shout out to Chip for blessing the Sacrament! I am sad that I missed it but I know he did a great job. I love you Chippers!

I am so grateful for everyone's prayers and support. I am so blessed to have such great family and friends. I hope y'all have a great week!

Love always,
Sister Rodabough

Well hey there folks...and movies too

Well hey there folks!
Long time no see my dear friends. This week has been just fabulous to say the least. Sister Adams and I have been busy busy busy. We found 4 new investigators, put 2 on date for baptism and had 1 at sacrament meeting. I know that those blessings has come from us trying our best to be exactly obedient!

2 of the 4 investigators we found last week is named Preston and Sarah Gray. Preston is a Baptist who converted to Methodist and Sarah is a Catholic (I think) who converted to Methodist. Preston is so funny because he thinks that the Book of Mormon isn't of God. And I'm just like, "The only way you can know if it is true or not is if you pray and ask God with real intent." And he kinda just ignores that and moves on haha. Sarah is like, "Yeah I'll pray to find out if it is true." And we are like "THANK YOU!" People can be suborn but nevertheless, I still love them.

The other investigator we found this week is named Hailey (I don't know how to spell her name lol). Her mother is a less active member so before Hailey gets baptized, her mom has to come to church first. I asked Hailey why she wants to be baptized and she said, "I can't remember what its called but its where you ask for forgiveness of your sins." I explained to her the gift of repentance and I just think it is so sweet how she wants to be baptized so that she can repent.

The other other investigator is named Richard. He is a cool guy my friends. He is in his 60's and he works as a prison security guard. At first we where kinda talking about non-gospel related things so I offered a silent prayer in my head that Heavenly Father would give us an opportunity to transition this topic into the Restoration. We began to tell Richard about our mile limitation and how we are low on miles because we have different missionary meeting we travel too, we also told him about meeting Elder Cook in Charleston WV and how he is Christ's apostle and Richard asked, "What makes you think that he is an apostle?" And BAM! We taught him the restoration. The power of prayer is real folks. It doesn't matter how big or small the matter is. Heavenly Father will ALWAYS answer our prayers if we but have faith in Him.

Morgan is another of our investigators. She is loving the Book of Mormon and she committed to be baptized on October 28. So we are very excited for her. She said that she has real intent to be baptized into our church. How cool is that?

I have gotten some questions about what Sister Adams (my new companion) is like. She is so much fun. She is 19 years old, she is from Salem Utah and she loves cheer and track. She is very hardworking, obedient, loving, funny and sassy. I love her a lot. ðŸ™‚

I sure hope that y'all have a great week! Thank you for everything. Remember that general conference is coming up and that we need to start preparing now. I love y'all.

This week was a spiritual skyrocket!

Hello hello hello! I sure hope everyone is doing well back home.

As I reflect on the events of today, I often think of the hero's we have today. The Police Officers, the Firemen, the Army Soldiers and so many other organizations that help, I am so grateful for everything they do for us each and every day. 9/11 was a really hard day for America. A lot of loved ones where lost. However, this makes me so grateful for Heavenly Fathers Plan of Salvation. I know that we will be with our families again. I know that God doesn't do bad things to punish us or anything. Heavenly Father needed those people back with Him so that they could help with missionary work and other things that need to be done on the other side of the vale. I know that those people who passed away this day are safe and happy.

Sister Adams is my new companion and I just love her so much. She is from Salem Utah, she has two brothers and a little sister. She's more on the quiet side. Which is cool. We are really good at teaching together because we are so unified. I am excited and grateful for this time that I have to serve with her!

On Saturday we woke up at 4:00 am and traveled to Charleston WV. There we met Elder Cook of the 12, Elder Nelson and Elder Dudley of the 70. This was the most Spiritual meeting I have ever been. The power of their words really sunk deep into my heart. They declared us to repent in such a nice way haha. The main thing that stood out to me was the sense of urgency they talked about. They said that the work isn't 'hastened' but that it is urgent. One thing that Elder Nelson said that I loved was, "If there is something wrong in your life, fix it." If we are not doing everything we need to do then stop what you are doing and make a change. I am in the process of a whole life style change. I am not completely changing who I am (my mom would be super mad) but I am just improving the things that I need to do better at. They also talked about how this is our time. This is our time to serve the Lord. This is our time to become our best selves. I am so grateful for everything I learned in this conference. I am grateful for this time that I have to discover who I really am. Who I am when I came out on my mission is not the same as who I am now. And for that I am grateful.

Thank you for all of your love, prayers and support. I hope that you all know how much I love you.

Crazy lessons and new adventures!

Weeeeeeeell hello folks. How are y'all doing? I hope that all y'all are safe and sound from all of the crazy floods and stuff like that. For a while there I was really worried about Elder Rodabough and Sister Gifford and Sister Webb but they are all okay so we are surely blessed.

This week was...interesting. To start off I would like to tell y'all about Pam. Pam is the lady we found a few weeks ago. We went to teach her the Plan of Salvation on Wednesday last week and with EVERYTHING she said it was against what we had to say. She was like, "How dare you think that the Book of Mormon is more important then the Bible." and we would say, "We know that the Book of Mormon and the Bible are equal partners in proclaiming the word of God." And then she would go off on her tangents again. The Spirit was super not there so finally Sister Van Tassel told her what our purpose is and we said a prayer with her and left. We ended on a good note though but she just was not willing to listen. And we had to leave because the Spirit wasn't there at all so that was crazy. We where both pretty shaken up after but we just pressed forward with the work.

On Friday we contacted one of our referrals from Church Headquarters. Her name is Sister Shockley and she is so cool! It was funny because you'd think that people out here wouldn't bash us about the Bible right? But Sister Van Tassell told Sister Shockley that the Bible was written in ancient Jerusalem and she was like, "No it was not it was written in Hebrew." Lol it was so funny I tried so hard to not laugh. Good times, good times.

Saturday was by far the most interesting day. We where tracting and we met Bill. Bill said that Him and God parted a long time ago and that he hasn't looked back. He also said that he wouldn't let us 'convert' him but that he would give us free fresh grapes from his vineyard! Those grapes are the best thing ever. They where so good holy cow. It was weird though because they had seeds in them. After he gave us grapes he have us free bird houses that he made! He was so nice to us. Who else would give us free bird houses? No one probably lol.

On Monday we went to see a Less Active man named Brother Lewis. He is an older man but he is so sweet. We couldn't go inside his house but I still wanted to share something with him. I shared 2 Nephi 31:19-20. And after he said, "Thank you for sharing those with me. You have made me a stronger man." My heart just melted when he said that. He is so sweet.

We found out that I will be getting a new companion! I am so excited! Her name is Sister Adams and I can't wait to meet her tomorrow! I am so excited for this new adventure. I love getting new companions because it gives me an opportunity to start fresh.

I hope that y'all know how much I love y'all. Thank you so much for all of your prayers and please continue to pray for those in Texas. I hope you have a great week!

Love,
Sister Rodabough
